WestJet says it’s in ‘recovery phase’ after strike
Good morning. One day after WestJet and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) reached a tentative deal to end a brief strike, the airline says it’s in the “recovery phase.”
Hundreds of flights were cancelled after flight attendants walked off the job on Sunday. The two sides announced the tentative agreement early Monday.
“Flights have begun to operate; however, the impacts of the disruption continue as the airline works to restore its network,” WestJet said in a statement late Monday. “Guests are encouraged to continue checking the status of their flights before heading to the airport.”
The airline has not made a new statement so far today.
