Police in Edmonton have laid charges after two worshippers were stabbed last month at a Sikh temple.
A 27-year-old man faces multiple offences – including two counts of assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon – while police continue to investigate whether it was a hate crime.
They have said the man had been let out of prison a day earlier when he went to the Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple with a screwdriver on the morning of Aug. 21 and stabbed two men.
Temple staff said both victims, ages 75 and 51, would recover.

Police have said the accused, Austin Sim-Pelletier, had been in prison for aggravated assault and assault on a peace officer, and has a history of violence.
Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Prime Minister Mark Carney have condemned the attack.
