Hi, I’m a writer for the Buzzer, CBC Sports’ newsletter.

After averaging three medals per day over the first three days of competition, Canadian athletes exploded for 12, including four golds, today at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

On Tuesday, Canada will contend for more medals in swimming, track and field, and gymnastics. Also, Olympic weightlifting champion Maude Charron goes for gold, several Canadian boxers fight for a spot in the medal rounds, and Canada’s men’s and women’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball teams begin their playoffs. After a medal-less Monday, Canada’s swimmers look to bounce back with stars Josh Liendo and Kylie Masse each going for their second medal of these Games. Liendo competes in the men’s 100m freestyle final at 2:18 p.m. ET and Masse in the women’s 50m backstroke final at 3:36 p.m. ET.

Reigning Olympic and world champion Camryn Rogers looks to give Canada a sweep of the hammer throw golds when she competes in the women’s final at 2:58 p.m. ET. The defending Commonwealth champ has won eight of her 10 starts this year and had the top throw in qualifying today. She’ll be joined in the final by Canada’s Jinaye Shomachuk and Jillian Weir, who took bronze at the 2022 Commonwealths.
