Health officials in Ontario are warning the public, including people who passed through Pearson International Airport last week, about a possible exposure connected to a confirmed measles case.
The Durham Region Health Department says a local unimmunized child recently returned from an international trip and tested positive for the virus.
Officials say anyone who was on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET552 travelling to Toronto last Monday, or who was in Pearson International Airport on Tuesday between 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., must watch for symptoms until Nov. 24.
Also, anyone who was in the Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering emergency room on Tuesday between 10:40 a.m. and 5 p.m. must watch for symptoms.
Tale of two outbreaks: Canada stamps out measles while cases grow in the U.S.
Health officials say measles symptoms can start seven to 21 days after exposure and can include a high fever, cough and a runny nose.
They say they are investigating the exposure and have followed up with those who have been in contact with the child.
