The federal government has raised $2-billion in its latest issue of green bonds targeting investments in conservation projects and environmentally friendly infrastructure, it said on Friday.
The issue of 10-year bonds was oversubscribed by $1.6-billion, according to a government news release. It said 44 per cent of the buyers are classified as environmentally or socially conscious investors, it said.
It was Ottawa’s second such $2-billion offering this year, and increases the total raised since the green-bond program started in 2022 to $19.5-billion.
The program is aimed at attracting capital for climate and environmental ventures and helping to develop the country’s sustainable finance market, the government said.
