Flight simulator maker CAE Inc. CAE-T reported first-quarter profit attributable to equity holders of $31-million, down from $57.2-million during the same period last year.

That amounted to earnings per share of 10 cents, compared with 18 cents during the prior-year quarter.

Revenue for the quarter totalled $1.17-billion, rising 6.8 per cent year over year from $1.10-billion.

CAE says revenue for its civil aviation segment reached $641.6-million in the quarter, up from $607.7-million.

First quarter defence revenue was $531.8-million, up from $490.9-million.

The company’s adjusted backlog stood at $19.2-billion during the quarter, down slightly from $19.5-billion during last year’s first quarter.
